Taylor Hall’s Hit On Jonas Brodin. Suspendable?

After a 7 1/2 month absence from gametime hockey, Taylor Hall returned to a pro lineup in Oklahoma City last night. He scored a goal within the first :38 of the game, but a hit later in the game might be the most memorable moment of his return.

Mind you, Hall has had shoulder issues, thus making this hit kinda silly for more reason than just one. Is it a head shot or a shoulder hit where the head hits the boards. Regardless, he was given a match penalty for a hit to the head. Suspendable offense? You be the judge.

Tough check, we sit on north in rinkside just above where the check happened.  It sure looked at our level to be more shoulder/upper body to shoulder/upper body -- lifted him into the boards and his head to glass.  I would say a very hard check but legal.  Barons need to get the shot generator going....too much time in their own end on last 4 periods against Houston...... tonight we will see.

aNd we are now dead last in league attendance :(  :(

Something has got to give -- OKC has got to wake up and start coming out to see this outstanding ice hockey in the AHL!

@baron66 I always defer to those that were in attendance over video. I was unable to attend the game, but watched twice from start to finish. And I think you might be right. From the angle that the zebra had that made the call, it may have appeared to be a head hit. At the rate Hall was skating, it was bound to leave some damage. Ugh, that attendance. And I'll take responsibility for not doing my part last night. Regardless, last place is a black eye. Yuck.

  1. [...] Tend The Farm : Taylor Hall Is Back, Barons Defeat Aeros 4-3 – It took Taylor Hall less than one minute to score in his first game as an OKC Baron.  He also was given a match penalty for this hit on Houston’s Jonas Brodin.  Unfortunate for Brodin and Hall about the hit, but it appears that Hall is showing no ill effects from his shoulder surgery he underwent this past March.
